We specialize in popular science books - with a difference. Our vision is to re-assert science into the mainstream culture of Greece. We aim to delight our readers by presenting them with the best science writing and the best science books from around the world. Our book list  (see below) comprises subjects that range from cosmology to parasitology; and yet the common denominator is always the active discourse and the lively engagement of the modern, thinking reader.

Avgo (means “Egg” in Greek) Books is headed by George Zarkadakis. George has studied Systems Engineering at City University, London and has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence. He has worked as a university researcher, a business consultant, a music producer, a travel writer and a science editor. He was the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Focus magazine, the largest popular science magazine in Greece and the writer of a very successful popular science television program (Eureka!). Apart from running Avgo Books, George is a regular contributor of science stories in various magazines and newspapers as well as an active science communicator and organizer of science communication events. He is also a novelist and a playwright.
